DMM Climbing Predator (Discontinued)

DMM Climbing Predator (Discontinued)

In short

The Predator has revolutionized the design of modern ice tools in a way that hasn't been seen since the first Pterodactyl. It's introduction created much controversy, causing both climbers and ice axe manufacturers to re-assess the fundamental concepts and mechanics of ice climbing. In its early days, the radical appearance of the Predator intimidated some skeptics into believing that it would only be of use to elite climbers on the steepest of ice falls. Yet the passage of time has shown how the Predator's simple ergonomic advantages are of as much benefit for conserving energy on easy angled snow as for modern technical desperates

...Don't fix it!

The DMM Predator was the 1st Curved Shaft Ice Axe to hit the markets, and lead a revolution in Axe Design.

As the years have passed, axe design has come on, and the weight has come down...now days the Predator is very outdated, but it's still a fantastic axe, and it's resale value on Ebay testifies to that (£100 each!!)

It's a shame about the weight, but if your after a classic, all round, ideal beginners axe...you'd be well off to get on the second hand websites and pick up a pair of predators.

Note: 4* for quality because of the weight issue...it's easily a 5* axe, and would never let you down!
