The Mammut serenity is one of only 3 ropes on the market which can be used as both a single, a twin and a half. at 8.9mm, it's not too heavy to carry a pair for a long trad route, and with its coatings its ideal for climbing in the winter too. It's strength as a single rope means it can be used indoors and out on sports routes too.

So, perfect? not quite...there's an obvious downside to it, at only 8.9mm, it's not the most durable rope, its not really suited to regular use indoors or as a single, and it's a bit expensive to be replacing it regularly because of regular falls when used as a single.

Handles Beautifully, and I love the pair I have...would, and do, recommend it to quite a few people who've asked in the past!

I have been using this rope since it was a prototype, and I loved it all along.
I don't use it much for sport climbing, although it's superlight, but for guiding.
It's also possible to use it as full-strength half rope for a party of three.
Note that you need appropriate belay device to securely belay with this rope. It is skinny and fast. Comes in grey and orange.
