Does exactly what it says on the tin! Its a simple, lightweight alpine style axe. I struggled with it on very steep ice, found that a lot more effort was needed compared to a heavier tool. However coupled with triggers and spinner leashes this makes a great tool for easy mixed and moderate ice. I think if you want your gloves to last any amount of time the grip tape must be removed and a trigger attached.
