Mammut Mt. Cascade GTX

In short

This lightweight boot is fashioned from rugged Dropstop textile with velour leather reinforcements – perfect for demanding tours and via ferrata climbing. The asymmetric lacing adapts to the anatomy of the foot and boosts the pressure on the big toe for precision footwork. The patented Mammut® Base Fit technology uses free-sliding bands to transfer the force of the lacing to the sole. Additional features include a waterproof GORE-TEX® Performance Comfort Footwear membrane and a high-grip Climbing Zone-endowed vibram® Mulaz sole.

User Image

This shoes were a revelation to me, after I had tried several summer alpine climbing shoes with poor comfort and fit. The second pair is in use now, for guiding, easy alpine climbing, rescue work, trekking. It is wide and spacious, yet precise for climbing and very very stabile. Climbing up a grade 4 route and then running down a scree and bergshrund is what these shoes are made for. Waterproof and rigid enough to wear strap-on crampons if you need to tackle a glacier or a snowy gully in spring or late fall.

Definitely recommended
