Omega Pacific Link Cam

Breaking cams
|
I've heard a couple of horror stories about the cam lobes shearing in half when fallen on, and failing. So it would appear they are not even built to standard, and even if those breakages resulted from bad placements, i have never heard of other cams physically breaking from a less than ideal placement.
Also the thing Cookie talks about is good about the selling point of taking less cams. This is pointless, you still need a certain number to protect a given route whether they cover a big range or not!

For me kind of tempting...
|
I don't consider Link Cam as an all around replacement for other cams, but it's kind of tempting idea to have one or two of these just in case there's a crack that requires the size you've already placed. So I'm in principle thumbs up for Link Cam. However, I feel that the construction should be more solid. Those few Link Cams I've tried / held on my hand have had somewhat flimsy feeling. It's not just that the lobes are in three parts (those are solid), but if you how the lobes and other parts are attached to each other. In comparison DMM Dragon feels rock solid, i.e. the parts do not move around. So if there would be same kind of feeling of solidness and precision, I would get a few Link Cams... I probably do in any case, but more comforting feel would be appreciated in any case.
